An artist, philosopher, and idealist are the labels best given to this Foxworth, MS native. After a brief residency in New Orleans, he has become a long-time and current resident of Jackson, MS, where he is the founder and president of NuRenaissance. As a company, the philosophy of NuRenaissance is to inspire and promote individuals who want to better themselves, to promote self-reliance, self-respect, and self-pride among inspiring African American artists as well as any and all creative persons. Educationally, he received a Bachelor of Art in Commercial Art (1996) and a Masters in Elementary Education (2009) both from Jackson State University. He taught art from 1998 to 2002 and again from 2015 - current in Jackson Public Schools. For the past decade to the present, he has consistently hosted an annual art showing of his works along with other local artists in the metro Jackson area.
His style is an unconditionally spontaneous involvement of my personal philosophies, theories, experiences, and creative experiments of the metaphysical this accumulates and energetically burst into a gumbo of creativity never duplicated or replicated by himself. His works are done primarily in oil with an abstracted Afrocentric twist, as an artist his ultimate goal, when creating a piece is to bring to life in the minds of his viewers a connection of his thoughts, messages, or philosophies he had by bringing his abstract mind to a physical realm. Instead, of writing a book of words, he’d rather paint a book of images to relay those words. His style can best exemplified in his signature piece, “Behold Adam”40 X 48, oil & tar on canvas
Thus, it is with great enthusiasm the attempt to inspire someone in a very positive manner with my artwork, with no regard of its imagery, but with all regard of the images’ message.
